I always get “rewarded” with a good gig as soon as I have a nightmare one. This was the case tonight as here was my second show where none of my friends came and it actually made for a good gig. Partly becaue I didn’t have those niggling voices and partly because I had the freedom to do whatever I wanted.
Thanks to the taxi driver who dropped me nowhere near then venue, leaving me to trot around the uni campus calling security everytime I reached a vehicle barier. When I eventually found the venue (which I hunted out just from the faint signs of feedback and guitar squels from sound checks) I was rewarded with a beautiful little studio theatre hidden deep within the university grounds.
This crowd was content, responsive and seemed to geniuiely enjoy the show, which was by no means perfect, thanks my blaze approach to remembering lyrics and chords. Tonight I met some great folk and got invited to play a gig down in London by the headline act.
I want to play in more theatres! NO MORE PUBS!
SMILE.
